How do I love thee? Let me count the ways…
If you happen to see me or a picture of me and I look like I’ve got a black eye, it is very probable. My face has recently become the target of Ella’s frustration and boy can she pack a mean punch. Maybe I should get her a punching bag with a picture of my face on it for all the mean things I make her do like wash her hands…change her poopy diapers…keep her out of danger. So far she is looking to be a very promising turbo kicker.
Well, at least I can appreciate her honesty and manners.
Me: Ella, can I have a hug?
Ella: No.
Me: Can I have a kiss?
Ella: No. (Begins to point and say something only I can translate).
Me: Oh, would you like my wallet?
Ella: Uh Huh!
Me: Can you say “please”?
Ella: Pease!
Me: OK. Here you go. (I hope I’m not painting myself in a corner with this one!)
And this is what we’ve been up to…
Kyle’s brother and wife have been out visiting us for the week so I’ve been a blog slacker. But here’s some of the things we’ve been up to:
Visiting Exit Glacier after a camping/halibut fishing trip in Seward:
Notice the sweater, Mom?!
Enjoying the visit of a Mama Moose and her baby in our backyard (who by the way spent the night there!):
A Daily Conversation
Ella: Ook, ook!
Me: Oh, would you like to read a book?
Ella: Uh-huh!
Me: Would you like to read “The Cat in the Hat”?
Ella: No.
Me: Would you like to read “The Most Precious Thing”?
Ella: No.
Me: Would you like to read “Ellison the Elephant”?
Ella: No.
Me: Would you like to read “Ridiculous”?
Ella: No.
Me: Would you like to read “When Will It Be Spring”?
Ella: Uh-huh!
This is actually an abbreviated version of our daily conversation.
Is this some sort of secret gang sign?
Ella and I went outside for our daily walk to the mailbox and upon returning to our house, she REALLY wanted to walk up our neighbor’s flight of stairs to see the carved wooden bear outside of their front door. So we did. She walked up to the bear growling, honked his nose, pulled on his ear, poked his eyes than gave him a great big kiss. Then it was back down the steps we went. Mission accomplished.
One Word
Ella’s response to a picture of Gramela and Grandpa parasailing at Myrtle Beach:
“Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!”
